When going to an employer, a perspective boss will look at a candidate’s education and confirm that he does have the necessary license. Getting a degree from an institution known for acting as a diploma mill can hurt in any career. CPA courses will cover the same material regardless. However, a boss who went to the same school as the candidate or a school with a good reputation has an advantage over other potential candidates.
What’s the Difference Between CPA Prep Courses and a Degree?
A degree merely means that a student has completed a college’s requirements. Many trade and vocational schools will include Prep courses as part of preparing a student for the CPA exams. When it comes to getting a job, the prep course a student makes does make a difference. It must cover the necessary topics as well as teach the student in a way he or she can understand.
A person using a CPA prep course to help him prepare for the licensing exam should ask questions and do research up front. Most people who offer the courses do not let a student back out once money exchanges hands.
